This is My Life, 2016.

This is my Life, overcoming barriers.

“This is my Life” is a new annual project which in the first year will showcase the work of six disabled artists from a national platform from the 21st September – 12th of November 2016 at the Embassy Theatre and Embassy Theatre Gallery in Skegness Lincolnshire. Alongside the work displayed by these artists will be banners created by people form various local support groups through workshops led by two of the artists reflecting the participants experience of living with their condition.

The aim is to create an exciting event which explores and celebrates all aspects of disability and the barriers that have to be overcome, from the perspective of those living with conditions, families who support and champion causes and care providers. Also to challenge negative aspects of a system that can mark you out as somehow different. To do this the core of the exhibition will be an two month exhibition of work by five prominent disabled artists whose work reflect their own disabilities and the challenges faced in creating and showing work and through this inspire others with disabilities to aspire in all aspects of life. To open the event there will be a large Digital projection/installation in the theatre auditorium produced by the artist Jason Wilsher-Mills from images created in workshops he led and a new performance work by the students of Linkage Adult Skills supported by Rhubarb Theatre.
